Direct Billing Available in Surrey

Use your benefits with less paperwork.

Therapy Now offers direct billing in Surrey for eligible Registered Massage Therapy, Acupuncture, Kinesiology, and Clinical Counselling claims through many major Canadian insurance companies and electronic claims networks.

Please note: Direct billing is a convenience, not a guarantee of coverage. Approval depends on your insurer, employer plan, available benefits, practitioner type, service, policy rules, and whether your plan permits assignment of benefits.
Insurance billing made easier

What does direct billing mean?

Direct billing means Therapy Now submits an eligible claim electronically to your insurance company after your appointment. When the claim is approved immediately, you normally pay only the amount not covered by your plan.

Some insurers pay the clinic, while others send reimbursement to the plan member. Some claims may be held for review or require you to submit the receipt yourself. Your insurer—not Therapy Now—makes the final coverage and payment decision.

Before your first visit

  • Confirm that your plan covers the practitioner and service you booked.
  • Ask whether a doctor's referral is required.
  • Check your annual maximum, visit maximum, deductible, and remaining balance.
  • Confirm whether your policy permits payment directly to the clinic.
  • Bring a payment method in case the claim cannot be processed or is only partly covered.

Other electronic claims networks

Pacific Blue Cross, Medavie, Sun Life, and providerConnect.

Not every insurer uses TELUS Health eClaims. Therapy Now also uses other insurer portals and provider networks when the patient's plan, practitioner, and service are eligible.

Pacific Blue Cross

Submitted through Pacific Blue Cross PROVIDERnet when the service, practitioner, and member plan are eligible.

Medavie Blue Cross

Submitted through the Medavie Blue Cross ePay network when the practitioner and member plan are eligible.

Sun Life

Submitted through Sun Life's provider claims system when electronic claiming is available for the service and plan.

GreenShield

Extended-health claims may be submitted through providerConnect when the service and member plan are eligible.

Empire Life

Listed by providerConnect for eligible extended-health services.

Beneva / SSQ Insurance

Listed by providerConnect; availability depends on the member plan, service, and practitioner type.

providerConnect clarification: its current public provider-registration page lists GreenShield Insurance, Empire Life for extended-health services, and SSQ Insurance. Canada Life and RBC Insurance are shown there for dental benefits only, so they are not listed here as providerConnect extended-health payors for Therapy Now services.
How it works

Four steps to direct billing.

1

Book your service

Choose the Therapy Now practitioner and appointment that matches your needs.

2

Provide your plan details

Bring your benefits card and identification, and complete any required authorization.

3

We submit the claim

After treatment, the clinic submits the eligible claim through the appropriate electronic portal.

4

Pay the remaining balance

You pay any deductible, co-insurance, uncovered amount, or balance not paid to the clinic.

Why might a direct-billing claim be declined?

  • Your coverage has reached its annual or per-visit maximum.
  • Your policy does not cover the booked profession or service.
  • A referral, prescription, or additional document is required.
  • The insurer requires the plan member to submit the claim personally.
  • The claim needs manual review or the electronic portal is temporarily unavailable.
  • The policy does not permit assignment of benefits to the clinic.
Coverage is personal

We cannot see every detail of your plan.

Two people with cards from the same insurer can have very different coverage because benefits are selected by the employer or plan sponsor. Therapy Now cannot guarantee eligibility, remaining balances, referral requirements, or reimbursement amounts.

For the most accurate information, contact the phone number on your benefits card or check your insurer's member portal before treatment.

Direct Billing FAQs

Does Therapy Now direct bill insurance companies?

Yes. Therapy Now submits eligible claims to many major Canadian insurers through TELUS Health eClaims and other insurer portals.

Does Therapy Now direct bill Pacific Blue Cross?

Yes, when the practitioner, service, member plan, and claim are eligible for electronic submission through Pacific Blue Cross PROVIDERnet.

Does Therapy Now direct bill Sun Life?

Therapy Now may submit eligible claims through Sun Life's provider claims system. Availability depends on the profession, member plan, and claim details.

Does Therapy Now direct bill Medavie Blue Cross?

Eligible claims may be submitted through the Medavie Blue Cross ePay network when the practitioner and member plan qualify.

Do you direct bill GreenShield?

Eligible extended-health claims may be submitted through GreenShield's providerConnect system.

Will I have to pay anything?

Possibly. You are responsible for deductibles, co-insurance, amounts above the plan maximum, excluded services, and any claim amount not paid directly to the clinic.

Can you check my exact insurance coverage before I book?

Electronic systems may return limited eligibility information, but only your insurer can confirm the full terms, remaining balances, and restrictions of your plan.

Do you direct bill for student massage?

No. Student massage and non-registered bodywork generally do not qualify for extended-health insurance reimbursement.

What happens if electronic direct billing is unavailable?

You will pay for the appointment and receive an official receipt that you can submit to your insurer, subject to the clinic's payment policies.

Can you coordinate benefits between two insurance plans?

Coordination of benefits may be possible, but procedures differ by insurer. In some cases, the secondary claim must be submitted by the patient after the primary insurer processes it.
